A better future

I was online, watching the results of the Federal Election back home come in, I looked out into morning sky, wondering if the Labor's Party's figures would hold up.

Could it be true? Could there be more smart people out there than i'd thought, this time 'round?

Sure enough, there was and Australia's citizens slaughtered the old conservative guard in the only real poll and convincingly voted for a new Prime Minister.

About bloody time.

Aussie Democracy

Gotta love Australian democracy! Even when you're not in the country, you can vote!

Beth and I rocked up to Australia House today, to vote in Saturday's (Oz time) Federal Election. I got ahead of some other person, simply because the scrutineer is an Eels fan. Good move wearing the jersey Luzzo ;)

God i hope the decade of disgrace can end.

Go Kev.

Big man, pig man. Haha, charade you are!

Battersea Power Station, site of the photography for Pink Floyd's 1977 album, Animals. A surreal experience, standing in front of this imposing structure while listening to the album on the trusty iPod. Just awesome. Hoping for some better angles next time.

A home

We've moved into a house, finally. Thanks to Sheva for 4 nights stay at her place, much appreciated after the stay at the alledged guesthouse.

First up here is a few of our street, then a view from our upstairs bedroom and finally the front of our place. It's a great location, very quiet and our flatemates are pleasant.

West Minster Abbey

Wow. What a place. Simply extraordinary. This comes from an aethiest mind you. I had no idea how much royal history was in the Abbey. So many Kings and Queens, buried, honoured. Servants and war leaders too. Just breathtaking, i'm sure i'll go again.

To be at the tomb of Queen Elizabeth, to walk on paths and be in rooms that people from almost 1000 years past sat. Chapter House was fascinating, a place where politicians and monks sat and discussed everything. The history of the building itself, all brilliant. Sadly no photography is allowed in the Abbey but i got a couple from outside.

Then my lunchtime drink was a Luscombe Ginger beer! An organic farm in Devon makes this stuff, small world eh? :)

More London

Just some images to give a feel for our surrounds.

Found a home

Thankfully we've found a share house to move into! Living with 4 or 5 others (not sure if the other room available was taken by a single or a couple) It's nice and warm, huge room, small backyard and well priced. Wireless internet so i'll be an internerd again very soon and it's close to a tube and shops and not far for me to ride a pushy to work. We saw 5 other places and this was the best by far. Very relieved, it was getting quite nerve wrecking waiting to find out.

Off to the city today for a poke around, no blue skies today, quite grey and extra chilly.
