Giswill, Lucerne

As with most stays on our trip, Giswill was out of town from Lucerne. We had two nights in this sleepy valley, our accomodation a swiss chalet! The views were fabulous:

Swiss Alps, Lucerne

These next shots are from our trip up a mountain in Lucerne. We took a minature train halfway then a cable car for the remaining climb. Around 2300m up I believe, quite a ways up! We couldn't get over the view, I could've spent all day taking photos and absorbing the sights. Alas just a an hour or so but I think some of the best shots from our whole trip were taken at summit here.

On the way up:

And one of our first views:

Some multi-image stitched panorama's were definately the go:

Our day in Lucerne itself and our surrounds while staying in nearby Giswill in the next post.

A cruise on Lake Lucerne

Our first stop in Lucerne was for the lake cruise. It was amazing to look out to and up at these mountains, we couldn't quite believe what we were seeing.

The breeze was nice, we got a little rain but not enough to stop me :)

And the beer was good too :)

As usual, plenty more to on flickr.

Cologne and Rhineland River Cruise

After Amsterdam our tour headed south into Germany, first stop - Cologne. We didn't have long there but the cathedral was quite impressive and daunting at 157m tall.

Beer for lunch :)

Cologne Railway Station

A cruise along the Rhine River. Some of the vineyards in Rhineland are on ridiculous slopes. Some even needing a cable chairlift to get the pickers down the slope for harvesting.

As usual, more to be found here.
